MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from December 10, 2007, from 129 Sellers were 823 head
including: 10 Bulls, 106 Cows, 27 Calves, 33 Longhorns, 298 Stocker Heifers, 229 Stocker
Bulls/Steers, 35 Feeder Heifers, 85 Feeder Bulls/Steers. Average
price = $488. Last
week = $ 530. A year ago
= $ 477. Market was steady to $1.50
lower on calves with several weaned 2 – 4 weights driving average prices
higher. Not many take home kind of cows
with prices tracking quality. Packer
prices $1 higher. High ratio of bull calves vs. steers with $3 - $6/cwt
discount on the bull calves as well as short hair Xbreds. Large volume of cattle hit the market last
week so demand backed off a little this week.
Last sale of 2007 will be December 17—1st sale of 2008
will be January 8.
