MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from November 26, 2007, from 70 Sellers were 311 head
including: 12 Bulls, 76 Cows, 13 Calves, 6 Longhorns, 86 Stocker Heifers, 64 Stocker
Bulls/Steers, 13 Feeder Heifers, 41 Feeder Bulls/Steers. Average
price = $499. Last
week = $ 500. A year ago
= $ 484. Not many cattle coming to town
because of cold, wet weather so market not fully tested. The cutting horse folks needed more good 475
– 525# heifers than were available so average prices on these $4 - $6
higher. Prices on the better feeder
steer calves $2 - $3 higher. Majority
of bred cows were short or broke mouth, 5 – 6 months bred, the kind normally
turned out on wheat for one more calf, and selling for $400 - $700 with limited
demand because of scarce wheat grazing.
Last sale of 2007 will be December 17—1st sale of 2008
will be January 8.
