MARKET REPORT – DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments
from October 22, 2007, from 233 sellers were
1223 head including: 34 Bulls, 174 Cows, 25 Calves, 349 Stocker
Heifers, 357 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 120 Feeder Heifers, 164 Feeder
Bulls/Steers. Average prices = $
502. Last week = $ 624. A year ago = $ 515. The market had some spark, especially on
good heifer calves as the cutting horse folks and some people looking for
replacement quality open heifers were pretty aggressive. Leser quality and unweaned calves remain a
tough sale. Bred cows and pairs not
fully tested. Packer prices on lean
high yielders $4 higher. Early
consignments for next week include 97 Brangus heifers. Some pairs, others long to mid bred. One raising.
