MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from September 24, 2007, from 195 Sellers were 1194
head including: 29 Bulls, 178 Cows, 31 Calves, 221 Stocker Heifers, 365 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 163
Feeder Heifers, 207 Feeder Bulls/Steers.
Average price = $541. Last
week = $ 542. A year ago
= $ 520. The market pretty well tracked
quality but is experiencing seasonal downward pressure. The better light calves steady to $1
higher. Overall quality negatively
influenced by ear, leather and fill on the calves. Bred cows and pairs continue to be in good demand. Packer prices higher on the high yielding
lean cattle but $1 less on lower yield fleshy cattle. Discount on 6 weight bulls vs. steers: Ave on bulls = $89.88, Ave on steers = $97.53. Such a variance
reflects tighter market as does the discount on #2 and #3 calves. Consignments being accepted for our “Fall
Roundup” Special Female Replacement Sale, scheduled for Monday, October 22,
2007.
