MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments
from September 17, 2007, from 213 sellers were
1385 head including: 25 Bulls, 254 Cows, 64 Calves, 317 Stocker
Heifers, 387 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 92 Feeder Heifers, 247 Feeder
Bulls/Steers. Average prices = $
542. Last week = $ 587. A year ago = $ 520. Most orders had money taken off from last
week’s strike prices and also more stringent selection criteria applied. Within the narrow selection criteria, prices
were steady to $1/cwt higher but in general prices were $3 - $4/cwt lower. Contributing to the price pull back, in
addition to quality, is the large number of cattle that came to town last week
and large number of producers on tractors in wheat country. Packer prices $2- $4 lower.
