MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments
from August 27, 2007, from 188 sellers were 959
head including: 17 Bulls, 86 Cows, 17 Calves, 295 Stocker Heifers,
274 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 100 Feeder Heifers, 170 Feeder Bulls/Steers. Average prices = $ 569. Last week = $ 559. A year ago = $ 525. 56% of calves were 5 – 6 weights with prices
$3 - $5/cwt higher. Very strong demand
for the replacement quality heifers.
The ratio of cows to calves continues to be far below historical
averages at 9% of consignments vs. historical 25 – 30%. A big demand for replacement quality cows
but very limited supply. 2 and 3 weight
calves were not of same quality as last week with prices retreating
accordingly. WE WILL HAVE A SALE
