MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET

Consignments from August 20, 2007, from 188 Sellers were 1130 head including: 19 Bulls, 171 Cows, 34 Calves, 256 Stocker Heifers, 357 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 80 Feeder Heifers, 213 Feeder Bulls/Steers.  Average price = $ 559.  Last week = $ 586.  A year ago = $ 500.  The floods in Southern Oklahoma caused several orders to be put on hold so the buying power was a little off on some categories.  Ratio of bull calves to steers higher than normal at 47% costing sellers $6 - $7/cwt on 6 – 7 weights.  Strong demand for 5 weight heifers driving prices $2/cwt higher while 6 – 8 weights were $1 - $3 higher.  2 – 3 weight calves bounced up $4 - $5/cwt.  Packer prices $1.25 higher.  Bred cows and pairs continue to be in good demand.
