MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from August 20, 2007, from 188 Sellers were 1130 head
including: 19 Bulls, 171 Cows, 34 Calves, 256 Stocker Heifers, 357 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 80 Feeder
Heifers, 213 Feeder Bulls/Steers.
Average price = $ 559. Last
week = $ 586. A year ago
= $ 500. The floods in Southern
Oklahoma caused several orders to be put on hold so the buying power was a
little off on some categories. Ratio of
bull calves to steers higher than normal at 47% costing sellers $6 - $7/cwt on
6 – 7 weights. Strong demand for 5
weight heifers driving prices $2/cwt higher while 6 – 8 weights were $1 - $3
higher. 2 – 3 weight calves bounced up
$4 - $5/cwt. Packer prices $1.25
higher. Bred cows and pairs continue to
be in good demand.
