MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments
from August 13, 2007, from 176 sellers were 1199
head including: 19 Bulls, 163 Cows, 22 Calves, 202
Stocker Heifers, 227 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 181 Feeder Heifers, 385 Feeder
Bulls/Steers. Average prices = $
586. Last week = $ 607. A year ago = $ 481. The market on calves was steady to $1.50
lower with some discount for fleshy conditions and Xbreds. Replacement quality heifers in good demand
as good replacement cows are hard to come by.
Ratio of cows to calves continue to be well below historical trends with
demand far exceeding supply. Early
consignments for next week include approximately 60 cows and 4 bulls – running
age bred cows and pairs.
