MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from June 4, 2007, from 139 Sellers were 804 head
including: 29 Bulls, 95 Cows, 26 Calves,
204 Stocker Heifers, 238 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 80 Feeder Heifers, 132 Feeder
Bulls/Steers. Average price = $ 554. Last week = $ 533. A year ago = $ 504. Quality on calves pretty evenly split
between good and fair to poor. Good
demand for the good calves with prices tracking quality and trending
higher. Cows and bulls made up only 15%
of consignments compared with normal 25% and most of the cows were midage or
older. Not enough pairs to test
market. Packer prices $1.75 to $2.50
higher. Early consignments for next
week include dispersal of 45 mama cow herd.
Black and BBF cows with 3rd to 5th calves. 35 pairs now. Will be on yard Saturday afternoon. In observation of Independence Day, we will be closed June 28
through July 6, 2007!
