MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET

Consignments from May 7, 2007, from 150 sellers were 742 head including: 26 Bulls, 174 Cows, 37 Calves,
137 Stocker Heifers, 187 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 78 Feeder Heifers, 103 Feeder Bulls/Steers.  Average prices = $ 577.  Last week =  $ 571.  A year ago = $ 500.  The severe storms in Oklahoma and Kansas cauwed some orders to be put on hold thereby negatively affecting pries on 225 – 300# claves.  The market was steady on comparable calves.  Most of the 7 and 8 weight cattle were discounted because too fat.  Packer prices $3 higher on average.  Demand on bred cows and pairs exceeded supply.  Early Consignments for May 14 include:  45-50 midage cows, most are pairs-a few will be longbred.  Also, a dispersal of an 80 – 90 cow herd if not too muddy to ship them.  WE WILL HAVE A SALE MONDAY, MAY 28, MEMORIAL DAY!
