MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from April 14, 2008, from Sellers were 937 head including: 16 Bulls, 225 Cows, 63 Calves,
33 Longhorns, 165 Stocker Heifers, 182 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 166 Feeder
Heifers, 87 Feeder Bulls/Steers. Average
price = $ 504. Last
week = $ 509. A year ago
= $ 562. The fundamentals of the market
remain unchanged from last week so prices were basically steady with upward
pressure on heifers. Packer prices $2 -
$3 higher. Replacement quality bred
cows and pairs remain in high demand as demonstrated in our Saturday
replacement sale, as summarized: 12
Bulls averaged $1743 with high price of $2600 - 153 Pairs averaged $1267 with
high prices of $1550 - 71 Bred Heifers averaged $1005 with high prices of $1400
- 62 Bred Cows averaged $991 with high prices of $1375 - 198 Open Heifers
averaged $778 with high prices $1000.
