MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from March 26, 2007, from 185 Sellers were 1050 head
including: 27 Bulls, 184 Cows, 42 Calves, 254 Stocker Heifers, 275 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 141
Feeder Heifers, 125 Feeder Bulls/Steers.
Average price = $ 565. Last
week = $ 553. A year ago
= $ 569. The market on stocker calves
was steady except for 4 weights that experienced $3 - $4 back off. Feeder cattle steady with a large
consignment of verified preconditioned 6 and 7 weight feeders pushing high
prices up $10 for 7 weight steers and $2.45 on 7 weight heifers. Not enough young or midage bred cows to test
the market. A good supply of young and
midage Tiger Stripe pairs pushed pair prices higher. Packer cattle were $1.25 lower on average, reflecting impact of
several dairy buyouts last week.
