MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from March 24, 2008, from 111 Sellers were 514 head
including: 16 Bulls, 112 Cows, 27 Calves, 43 Longhorns, 113 Stocker Heifers, 89 Stocker
Bulls/Steers, 31 Feeder Heifers, 83 Feeder Bulls/Steers. Average
price = $ 499. Last
week = $ 467. A year ago
= $ 552. Prices on calves higher,
reflecting combination of better quality and continued short supply coming to
town. Feeder cattle showing increased
demand with anticipated shortfall in feedlots this summer. The rains bring more optimistic view for
grass calves. Very few good replacement
quality cows offered. Packers $1 - $3
higher. Consignments being accepted
