MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from February 26, 2007, from 206 Sellers were 1292
head including: 47 Bulls, 212 Cows, 53 Calves, 345 Stocker Heifers, 365 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 137
Feeder Heifers, 133 Feeder Bulls/Steers.
Average price = $ 505. Last
week = $ 535. A year ago
= $ 529. There’s a bit of a logjam in
the supply line as several feed yards are holding off receiving cattle because
their pens are so muddy. The better
calves and yearlings were steady with buyers holding tight reins on quality and
prices. Significant variances in
quality with the plain to lesser quality cattle pulling average prices down.
Packer prices $2 - $3 lower, which put downward pressure on the bred cows and pairs
since most of them were older cows. Consignments
being taken for our 15th Annual “Bringing in the Green” Special
Replacement sale scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2007.
