MARKET REPORT – DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET

            Consignments from February 25, 2008, from 193 sellers were 1198 head including: 17 Bulls, 312 Cows, 112 Calves, 84 Longhorns, 269 Stocker Heifers, 218 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 107 Feeder Heifers, 79 Feeder Bulls/Steers.  Average
prices = $ 527.  Last sale =  $ 492.  A year ago = $ 505.  Overall quality better than last week, which accounts for some of the increased prices with demand adding $2 - $3/cwt to steers and $4 - $5 to heifer calves.  Good response for the dispersal of 70 Angus cow herd.  Mostly midage cows in 1st of 2nd trimester or with babies by side – bred cows $1000 - $1100 and pairs $1150 - $1380.  Packer prices $.50 - $2.55 lower on average.  Consignments being accepted for our 16th annual “Bringing in the Green” Special Female Replacement sale scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2008.  To consign your cattle, please call us at 940-627-5599.
