MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET

Consignments from February 12, 2007, from 205 Sellers were 1029 head including: 28 Bulls, 135 Cows, 32 Calves, 290 Stocker Heifers, 294 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 119 Feeder Heifers, 131 Feeder Bulls/Steers.  Average price = $ 522.  Last week = $ 501.  A year ago = $ 595.  Prices coming out of feed yards and futures on fed cattle have moved up over the past four days so we saw more demand and higher prices on feeder calves.  Not many yearlings offered.  Prices on better feeders were $4 - $6 higher; the 4 –5 weights also jumped $2 - $5 while 2 – 3 weights were steady.  High yielding packer bulls were $4 higher while packer cows were steady.  Not many take home quality pairs and bred cows.  Consignments being taken for our 15th Annual “Bringing in the Green” Special Replacement sale scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2007.
