MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments
from February 8, 2010, from 125 Sellers were 690
head including: 13 Bulls, 136 Cows, 30 Calves, 47 Longhorns, 169 Stocker Heifers, 150 Stocker
Bulls/Steers, 72 Feeder Heifers, 76 Feeder Bulls/Steers. Average
price = $ 461. Last
sale = $ 478. A year ago
= $ 430. Wide area of rain continues
to keep cattle from coming to town and this week a few of the buyers were
flooded out. Overall quality plain to
fair with high ratio of Xbred calves.
Approximately 23% of calves were English weaned calves with prices
comparable to last week. 6 weight
steers and heifers were in good demand.
Most bred cows and pairs were midage or older with most being bought by
packers. Demand for younger cows
exceeding supply.
