MARKET REPORT – DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments from February 1, 2010, from 125 sellers were 905 head
including: 12 Bulls, 146 Cows, 26 Calves, 24 Longhorns, 210 Stocker
Heifers, 280 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 95 Feeder Heifers, 109 Feeder Bulls/Steers.
Average prices = $ 478. Last week = $ 487. A year ago = $ 468. 2 – 4 weight calves were significantly
lower partially because much of the wheat grazing country having to deal with
last week’s ice storm and projected power outages for the next 3 – 5 weeks but
mostly because of inconsistent quality.
Weaned calves were in good demand with 5 – 8 weight steers $2 - $4/cwt
higher and heifers $1 - $2/cwt higher.
Bred cows and pairs not tested as most of the offering were too old to
go back to the country. Packer prices
$1 - $3 higher.
