MARKET REPORT - DECATUR LIVESTOCK MARKET
Consignments
from January 29, 2007, from 269 sellers were
1463 head including: 91 Bulls, 282 Cows, 47 Calves, 305 Stocker
Heifers, 427 Stocker Bulls/Steers, 99 Feeder Heifers, 212 Feeder
Bulls/Steers. Average prices = $
518. Last week = $ 490. A year ago = $ 579. With more of the receiving pens out from
under ice, the 2 – 4 weight calves experienced significant gains. 6 – 8 weight heifers $1.25 - $2.35/cwt
higher with good demand for replacement quality. Feeder steers and heifers continue to be pushed back because of
the projected high cost of gain in feedlots – average prices on feeders $3 -
$3.65 lower with deep discounts on fleshy ones. Packer prices on good yielding bulls and cows $5 higher – low yielding
$3 lower. Consignments are being accepted for our 15th annual
“Bringing in the Green” Special Replacement Sale scheduled for Saturday, March
17, 2007.
